Since 2004, North Jersey Volleyball Club has been dedicated to the development of youth volleyball. We are committed to teaching athletes the fundamentals of volleyball, the importance of teamwork, and sportsmanship in victory and in defeat. We are looking for student athletes that want to be part of a team, while simultaneously, giving our players an affordable way to fall in love with the game.
Once you enter NJVBC, you can expect expert coaching in competitive practices. Wins are not the priority – improvement is. Our goal is to see your child get to the next level, while making new friends, becoming physically fit, learning mental toughness, maximizing their potential, and still being able to play other sports and participate in other activities. With only one practice a week, we believe that we are great for players new to the game, as well as advanced athletes that cannot make a “three practice a week” commitment.

Travel Team
The travel team requires a tryout in her age group. Age groups are defined below. The travel team includes one practice a week, and five one-day events. Tryout fee: $50. The tryout fee must be brought to your tryout. Cash or check payable to: North Jersey Volleyball Club. You only pay the tryout fee once.
The travel team’s season runs from mid-November through the first week of May. There are five one day events. Practices are once a week.
Cost: $850
** Optional weekend sleepaway tournament: additional $350
Regional team cost includes:
- 36 hours of instruction
- Club T-shirt
- Five one-day competitive events (tournaments, quad-matches, tri-matches, etc.)
- Two jerseys
Non-Travel Team
The practice only team is a great way to keep your skills up if you cannot travel, or if you did not make the travel team this season and want to keep practicing for next year. A tryout is not required for the practice only team.
Practice team members do not travel. Practices are once a week from December – April.
Cost: $350
Cost includes:
- 21 hours of instruction (Sundays from December 4 – April 2. Excludes holiday weekends and Super Bowl Sunday.)
- Club T-shirt
Non-travel practices will be held in either North Haledon or Clifton.

TENTATIVE – Travel Team Tryout Dates
IMPORTANT NOTE: All tryouts will occur at Mary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon, NJ. When you register, you can put down a preference for practices to be in Nutley or North Haledon. However, we cannot promise or guarantee placement. We will do our best to fulfill all requests for practice location preferences, but it is not always possible.
VARSITY PLAYERS ONLY: If your high school season is still going on when your tryout occurs, communicate with us and your tryouts will be pushed back. Register for tryouts, and as the dates get closer, keep us informed of how your season is going and we will accommodate your tryout dates as needed.
13 and under
If your age of eligibility is 13 or under, your tryout date will be:
Sunday, October 8th
12:30 pm – 02:30 pm
After the 8th, you will be notified if you have not made the team, or if you are invited for a second round of tryouts:
Sunday, October 15th
12:30 pm – 02:30 pm
Those that can only tryout out on the 15th will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
If you have made the travel team, your first practice will be Sunday, November 19th.
If you did not make the travel team, you will have the option to be placed on the practice team. The first practice will be Sunday, December 3rd

4:30 pm – 6:30 pm Group A
6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Group B
** If you are not a setter, libero, or DS, you will be notified whether you are group A or group B via email.
After October 15th, you will be notified if you have not made the team, or if you are invited to the next round of tryouts:
Sunday, October 22nd
12:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Those that can only tryout out on October 22nd will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
If you have made the travel team, your first practice will be Sunday, November 19th.
If you did not make the travel team, you will have the option to be placed on the practice team. The first practice will be Sunday, December 3rd.

If your age of eligibility is 16, your tryout date will be:

2:30 pm – 4:30 pm (Setters/Liberos/DS)
4:30 pm – 6:30 pm Group A
6:30 pm – 8:30 pm Group B
** If you are not a setter, libero, or DS, you will be notified whether you are group A or group B via email.
After October 22nd, you will be notified if you have not made the team, or if you are invited to the next round of tryouts:
Sunday, October 29th
12:30 pm – 2:30 pm
Those that can only tryout out on October 29th will be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
If you have made the travel team, your first practice will be Sunday, November 19th.
If you did not make the travel team, you will have the option to be placed on the practice team. The first practice will be Sunday, December 3rd.

North Jersey Volleyball Club is committed to the health and safety of our players. Varsity players, we do not believe that you should be asked to tryout for a club team before, or during, your high school season.
If your season is ongoing due to County or State Playoffs, you will be offered a tryout once your season is completed.
Note that this only applies to Varsity players that play regular minutes for their Varsity team, and you MUST try out. You are not guaranteed a spot on our travel teams.
As a girls travel team player, what is the total obligation (financial, fundraising, etc.)?
All players are asked to fundraise at least $100 to cover their warm-up jerseys. In lieu of fundraising, you may pay an additional $55 to the cost below.
Additionally, there is an optional sleepaway tournament that you will be able to sign up for if you make the travel team. If you are interested, add an additional $350 to the cost below.

Is registration open for my daughter’s age of eligibility?
Registration for all ages is open at this time. We will keep this section updated if we can no longer accept registrations for certain age groups.
What time will my daughter’s practice be? Who will be her coach? What days are tournaments?
In the state of NJ, high school coaches cannot coach their high school players in the offseason. As a result, we must first have tryouts, then place coaches with teams that do not roster any of their high school kids. We cannot assign coaches until after tryouts occur.
That also means we don’t know what time their team will be practicing either. During the 2022 – 2023 season, the window for practices was 12:30pm – 8:30pm at both locations. Practices are 2 hours long. The younger kids were earlier in the afternoon, and it progressed until the oldest kids practice at night.
Tournaments cannot be booked until December 1st, so we will not have the schedule finalized until December 15th.
