Tryouts are here! Looking forward to another great club season. Last year, we had over 300 girls tryout across all age groups. Please be sure to follow the steps below to ensure that tryouts go as smoothly as possible!
1. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
If there are any last minute changes, we will update social media and send an email.
2. Arrive a half hour early.
Tryouts need to start on time. Therefore, please arrive early to get situated. Parents/spectators are not allowed at tryouts. Bring water, Gatorade, snacks, etc. Don’t forget your sneakers, water, knee pads, and tryout fee!
Tryouts will be at Mary Help of Christians Academy in North Haledon.
When you enter campus, make a right. Look for Sacred Heart Hall. You’ll see big glass doors.
On the outside, you’ll see stairs to the left of the big glass doors. Walk up the outdoor stairs, and make a right into the big metal doors. Bathrooms are the first door on the left. Gym is the second door on the left. Parents/spectators are not allowed to stay. You are welcome to walk them in.
3. Do not come to the check in table until you are ready to play.
There will be a lot of you. We take pictures at check in to remember all of your faces. That being said – we need you in the gear you’ll be playing in, not a sweatshirt or sweatpants. It is hard to remember you if we don’t see you in the gear you were playing in for 2 hours! Bathrooms to change in can be accessed before you enter the gym for check in.
4. Come to the check in table with your $50 tryout fee.
Cash is preferred, but a check can be written to: North Jersey Volleyball Club
5. Be willing to try any position at any time.
We will cycle through all the stations with you: hitting, setting, passing, serving, etc. Give every station your best effort. You never know – maybe you are great at something you haven’t tried. All players tryout at all positions!
**Notice about time slot: Every player tries out for every position. We want to see what every player can, and cannot, do. Please do not email us asking if your child is in the setter/liberos group, will she be able to try out for other positions. All players go through all stations and all drills! We split off setters, liberos, and defensive specialists because of the amount of girls that tryout specifically for those positions.
